  A search box that returned nothing

  Situation

  Customers search by manufacturer code, scale and kit number. The search handled none of them. A large share of searches returned nothing at all, and those customers bought elsewhere. In the analytics it looks like ordinary browsing.

  What I did

  I searched the catalogue the way a customer would and listed every query that came back empty. Some were data problems, some were search settings, most were both. Product titles and fields were rewritten so the terms people type match the terms the search reads.

  Where it stands

  Ongoing. I am setting up a clean before-and-after measurement before quoting any figures. The pre-Christmas period distorts any comparison made against it.

  A website overhaul

  Situation

  A dog grooming parlour in Stokesley. The site was years old, hard to use on a phone, awkward to update, and did not show the work.

  What I did

  A full rebuild around how customers arrive: on a phone, looking for what you offer, where you are, and how to book.

  Where it stands

  The new site goes live shortly. The before version was captured from the old site while it was still online.
